Improve performance by measuring the pages customers open, then changing the largest cause of delay or instability. Core Web Vitals are three field metrics Google documents on web.dev: Largest Contentful Paint (LCP), Interaction to Next Paint (INP), and Cumulative Layout Shift (CLS). A lab score from one desktop run is a clue. It is not the same as the experience on a mid-range phone.
Vasu Lakshmi has 15 years of frontend development experience with this kind of problem. The slow part is usually an image, a font, or a script, not the absence of a new framework.
Measure before you rearrange the homepage
Use field data when you have enough traffic, such as the Chrome User Experience Report via Search Console or PageSpeed Insights. For a new site, use a lab trace on a mobile throttling profile and treat it as a rehearsal, not as the public score.
Record the template, the network assumption, and the date. A number without that context cannot be compared next month.
LCP: the largest element arrives late
LCP is often the hero image or the main heading. Helpful changes are specific: serve an image close to the display size, compress it, do not lazy-load the hero, and avoid a stylesheet or script that blocks the first paint. LCP guidance lists the usual causes. Swapping a stock photograph for another stock photograph of the same weight does nothing.
INP: the page hesitates after a tap
INP measures responsiveness. Long tasks from large JavaScript bundles, third-party chat widgets, and heavy animation libraries are common sources. INP guidance is the reference. Remove a script you cannot explain before you micro-optimize one you need. Animation should respect reduced motion. A cinematic intro that delays the first tap is a product problem, not a branding requirement.
CLS: the layout jumps
CLS rises when images lack width and height, when ads or banners insert themselves above content, or when web fonts swap and reflow text. Reserve space. CLS guidance shows the patterns. Set dimensions on images you control, including the logo.
What to do first
- Pick the template that starts enquiries, usually the homepage and the contact page.
- Trace it on a slow mobile profile.
- Fix the single largest LCP or CLS cause.
- Remove unused third-party tags.
- Measure again and write down the difference.
Maintenance and performance is how Zylora Digital continues that loop after launch. It does not promise a particular field rating. Technical SEO still needs the page to be crawlable HTML, which is covered in Google and AI search visibility. Platform choice affects how much JavaScript you ship. That trade-off is discussed in Astro and WordPress.
Limitations
You cannot “pass Core Web Vitals” permanently. A new chat widget or an uncompressed photo in a blog post can regress the field data. Lab tools disagree with field data when real users are faster or slower than the throttle you chose. Use the metrics to prioritize work, not as a trophy.
